Korres Mango Butter Lipstick SPF10 Part II

More Korres Mango Butter Lipstick SPF10 ^.^ I just realized I've been posting a ton on lip colors this month!

Within the past several months, I've had more time to play with these Mango Butter Lipstick. To my surprise, they actually grew on me! This may have something to do with my "new" way of wearing lipsticks, as in not wearing them like lipsticks at all but rather like a stain, i.e. applying only 1 layer on the bottom lip then press my lips together to spread and that's it. It's actually not that "new" as this was my way of wearing Lancome Color Design Lipstick in First Crush, since it's a gorgeous translucent red without any shimmers and perfect for staining. I just hadn't thought of extending this staining method to my other lipsticks too until around this summer. Yeah, I'm kind of slow when it comes to these kinds of things.

Korres Limited Edition Mango Butter Lip Collection, which comes with 45 Coral, 47 Orange Brown, and 52 Orange Red.

Anyway, when I was still layering these Mango Butter Lipsticks, I thought they were just ho-hum and were especially pale in comparison to Clinique Butter Shine Lipsticks in terms of texture, finish, and moisture level. As a lipstick, Clinique is thick, smooth, and creamy going on, while Korres is smooth but thin and thus not as creamy as I would have liked. Clinique has a glossy shine, while Korres claims a "brilliant high shine" (at least on their website they do) but didn't quite deliver. Clinique is very moisturizing, while Korres is only somewhat moisturizing due to their thinner texture.

All pictures taken indoor with flash, unless otherwise noted.

Normally, when using a lipstick to stain my lips I would get the bare naked lips look. Imagine lips with no shimmers, no sheen, no texture, no moisture, nothing except for a touch of color. I would refrain from apply lip gloss or lip balm on top, not even chapstick, as any additional layer will give the stain an excuse to fade after a while. If you're wondering, I avoid using super shimmery-almost glittery lipsticks (think Lancome Color Design in Groupie and Pink Attitude) as stains, because I would just end up with a bunch of chunky shimmers on my lips.

But when using these Korres Mango Butter Lipsticks to stain my lips, I would actually get a nice sheen with an added bonus of the lipstick formula retaining its moisture even if the 1 layer I applied is spread super thin among my upper and lower lips. So I went from thinking these lipsticks are ho-hum when layered to loving them when I apply a whole lot less! In this sense, they truly embody the meaning of less is more. And they smell nice, having a slight fruity scent mixes in with the lipstick scent.

- 45 Coral: a bright and translucent coral with no shimmers. In the tube, it looks just as bright, if not brighter than 14 Pink. On me however, it turns more orangey with only a touch of coral remains.

- 47 Orange Brown: certainly looks brown in the tube but turns more peach nude on me with only a hint of brown. It has very fine and scattered shimmers that aren't visible at all.

- 52 Orange Red: another translucent color lipstick without any shimmers. Looks more red in the picture than in real life, and even then, it has the opposite effect as #45 Coral above, turning a tad more coral on me rather than orange.

Since I've been carrying these Mango Butter Lipsticks around, I've also come to appreciate the sturdiness of their metal packaging. Sure it is a weighty metal tube, but it feels substantial in my hand and the cap has a nice click to it. Also, the actual lipstick is very firmly set in its base, which gets major brownie points from me because there's no bigger shame than a broken lipstick. And let me tell you, so far, all of my Estee Lauder lipsticks are broken, with the majority broken after only the a few applications. This is the sole reason why I've reviewed a total of 3 of them when I actually own about a dozen, and even then it was because those 3 had lasted through several months of use before breaking.

- 22 Naked Rose: a sheer muted peachy pink with very fine shimmers, it's a perfect my-lips-but-better color. In fact, the combination of it being sheer and so close to my natural lip color means it can't be used as a stain at all. On the upside, I don't need a mirror to apply it and I can layer it as much as I want without any fear of over applying ^.^

Aren't these gorgeous fall colors? They got me eyeing more colors already ^.^

how pretty! I may need to pick one up! Maybe Naked Rose, as I'm always looking for MLBB shades.

Hi Kuri!

I'm thinking of getting more colors too as I'm really falling for these :)

Naked Rose is really pretty! It is sheer though. Do you like sheerer lip colors?

Cheers,
D.

yeah, I like sheer.
Pigmented is nice too, but takes more effort and care; I'm all about no-brainers right now :)

Hi kuri,

I'm so with you on the no-brainer lipsticks!! The trains here throw people around quite a lot, so anything I can just swipe on my lips without a mirror wins with me. The sheerness of the Naked Rose color really helps clown-proof my lips too ^.^ Let me know if you like that color!

Cheers,
D.
