Smitten Ice Cream, San Francisco

Here's one of the local and tourist top hits - Smitten Ice Cream. What's so special about this place, you ask? It gives you ice cream, as in, iced cream, the creamiest ice cream ever, and they make it right then and there at the front counter, in your presence at your witness (behind a fiber glass protective wall, of course).

At anytime on any given day you can expect a line here, because it's sunny California and the winter here is like a beautiful and warm spring day everywhere else. Urgh.

There are only a handful of flavors offered, because they make a batch right there in front of you and make another as soon as one batch is all sold. As for the technology, and why it's creamier than your average ice cream, you can read the below.

Hubby got chocolate mint, and I got apricot mint (pictured). They both agreed although the creaminess is phenomenal, it ended up being too creamy for us LOL! Think iced heavy cream, which is exactly what ice cream is and you'll taste why. Also, even though there are measurements of ingredients, the guys and gals behind the counter are so rushed in their making of ice cream that they're more or less liberal. The 2 batches that we got our scoops from were over-flavored with mint and all we tasted was mint. I also tried a salted caramel popsicle and again it was too salty. I guess thats what happens at crowded places.
