Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Gloss

This sample tube of Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Gloss in 430 Plum Jealousy is part of the freebie that broke my six-years-long disinterest in the brand. And good thing it was a freebie because I've grown out of glosses and wouldn't have bought this even with a good promotion.

All pictures taken in natural light without flash.

I do admit this is a nice gloss. The formula is thick without being goopy, and smooth despite this particular color being packed with silver shimmers. It's moisturizing and feels nice on my lips. It's scented with a sweet candy scent I could do without but it's at least tolerable. Oh, and it lasted for a good 4 hours plus a shower, not too shabby. Too bad I just don't bother with glosses anymore.

- 430 Plum Jealousy: Not sure how much "sculpting" a transparent lip gloss will be able to accomplish, but this color is much too pink to be plum. In the tube, it's totally pink-mauve with lots of prominent silver sparkles. Even then, much of the color does a disappearing act on my lips leaving behind just a slight hint and loads of shimmers. That said, the transparency makes it easy to wear, so I might just toss it into my bag for the times I'm tired of the "mommy" lip balms. Did I tell you I stocked up on lip balms like no tomorrow? Ha.

All I wear are tinted lip balms these days... What is your favorite lip balm with spf?

Hi Claire,

Well, unfortunately I haven't come across one I really love. Here are a few I've used, all with one shortcoming or another.

There's Ettusais Lip Essence Stick Color with SPF18 PA++ (http://alittledabintomakeup.blogspot.com/2017/01/ettusais-lip-essence-stick-color-spf18.html), but it's pricey and I think it's not worth the price.

Integrate Sakura Drop Essence is a much better choice--better formula, better feel, more moisturizing (http://alittledabintomakeup.blogspot.com/2014/04/integrate-sakura-drop-essence.html). The color Sakuranbo also has SPF18 PA++, but this is a squeeze tube and I'm not sure if it's still available even.

There's always Fresh Sugar Tinted Lip Treatments with SPF15 with a great formula and several choices of color, but as you know those are super pricey.

Canmake Lip & Cheek Gels (http://alittledabintomakeup.blogspot.com/2016/07/canmake-lip-cheek-gel-spf24-pa.html) has SPF24 PA+ and are super affordable, but they're more than just tinted to be honest, and I much prefer them on my cheeks than my lips.

Canmake Stay-On Balm Rouge (http://alittledabintomakeup.blogspot.com/2014/12/canmake-stay-on-balm-rouge-spf11.html) are lovely in many aspects, formula, colors, and price, but these has a weak SPF11.

Which of these have you tried?

Cheers,
D.

I haven't tried the Sakura Drop Essence - it was on my list but then I found squeeze tubes annoying (except when I'm sick) so I stopped buying them. I'll pick one up! Sakuranbo is still listed on the Integrate website so I assume it's still available.

I do like Fresh Sugar Lip treatments - very moisturizing. I get a little bored though - guess I should alternate through my minis - I was trying to use up one before starting on another but that is so boring.

I did enjoy the Canmake Balm Rouge - I just promptly lost the one that I had when I moved from Japan so never repurchased. The SPF is weak but better than nothing, right?

I haven't tried the others you mentioned. I have enjoyed Sonia Kashuk's Satin Luxe Lip Color with SPF 16 - it's creamy and nicely pigmented and the packaging works well - but it isn't as moisturizing as Fresh, so I need to apply balm after an hour or 2.

I do adore the scent of the Nivea Olive Oil and Lemon balm but it just isn't moisturizing enough. Plus the US version has been discontinued :( By the way, did you know that Epielle green tea wipes have a similar yummy green tea smell?

Hi Claire,

No, I haven't tried Epielle green tea wipes. I actually get too lazy for wipes, funny as it sounds. I always rinse off after using any kind of wipes because they'd leave a sticky residue on my skin. So I'd rather just splash water on my face and skip the wipes LOL!

Cheers,
D.

Haha, actually, I don't use the wipes for my face - I just like the smell and use them as regular wet naps. Haven't found Epielle particularly useful as face wipes

Hmmm...perhaps I should stock these wet naps for the car and the diaper bag! Thanks for the recos, Claire!
