This Jillian Dempsey for Avon Horizon Blush was a part of my first Avon Loot (well, I actually did pay them for everything, but since everything was also so cheap, it might as well be a loot...). Anyway, this blush is also my very first Avon blush!
The Horizon Blush is available in 2 shades: Pink (left) and Apricot Horizon (right).
I am only going to review the Apricot Horizon today because I've only use that one so far.
Apricot Horizon is a muted tomato red with pink undertone and hints of peach. When I first swatched the blush, I was thinking it's going to be very pigmented. And -woh- it is extremely pigmented! I swirled my brush over the gradation, shook off the excess, blended the color on the back of my hand first to lighten up the mix, blotted my cheek with a tissue after application, and still my cheeks were as red as a doll's (and not in a good way)! Finally, I had to blend again with my fingers and the pigment finally let up a little and gave me very flushed cheeks. Yikes! I guess I'll just have to just dab my brush on the powder next time to pick up less color O.O
The blush itself is very soft and smooth, which is impressive given its price. Also, if you look closely, the lighter half of the blush looks pearly because it has fine shimmers. However, these shimmers don't show up at all and the blush goes on completely matte. My only complaint is that it's a bit too dusty. I didn't swirl my brush over it a million times or anything, just once or twice and even that left me with a black case covered in fine pink dust. Perhaps dabbing the brush next time will help...?
so, overall, you're pretty pleased with the avon blush?
