Afternoon Tea at the Brown Palace Hotel, Denver

Back in July, hubby attended a week-long conference in Denver. Since I was going to start school the week after, we booked a hotel room and treated it as a mini vacation. The first day while he was in his workshops, my sister and I met up at the Brown Palace Hotel for afternoon tea ^.^

The hotel was built in 1892 and had lovely decor, definitely luxurious with marbles at every turn. They do give tours there also, a general 1-hour tour for $10/person, or a ghost tour for $50/group of 5. What, you didn't think a hotel this old isn't haunted? We wanted the ghost tour but didn't have 5 people. We didn't have enough time anyway so we settled for just the afternoon tea.

The afternoon tea menu was simple, and we went for the Signature Tea for $36/person. My sister would be driving and didn't want any alcoholic beverage, and I'm not a big drinker either. So it didn't make sense for us to get the other more expensive options, which came with bubblies.

Every guest got this adorable little jar of strawberry jam. My sister and I didn't open ours. We opted to bring it home as a souvenir instead ^.^ It was too cute to eat.

We got regular and chocolate chips scones, which were good, but nowhere as fluffy and succulent as those from Crown and Crumpet in SF. Speaking of which, hubby and I haven't done afternoon tea here in Tokyo yet. We need to get with the program asap! The savories were kind of meh, and the sweets were decent. Basically, if you're in SF, definitely give Crown and Crumpet a try and at least know what the authentic stuff taste like xD And it's way cheaper too, at only $22/person.
