I first read about these Glossier Generation G Sheer Matte Lipsticks from Citrine way back in 2020. She first reviewed Cake, then Zip, and finally Crush. Later that year, I caved and picked up Jam and Zip, and have been wearing them off and on since.

These come in simple and functional white tubes, each with 3g/0.1oz. of product. The formula is interesting. It feels dry and chalky initially upon application but then softens and moistens once on my lips. The texture makes me think of having applied lip balm, and after some time the balm fades until this last bit left on my lips.
Which is to say this formula not bad, but since I have super dry lips, I do wish
it was softer and creamier. There's a strong scent with floral top notes
but immediately descends into something else more chemical. I'm not too
thrilled with the scent but I don't find it unbearable either, unsurprising since I'm super
picky when it comes to fragrances. I do love that the color is translucent and buildable--indeed a soft, sheer matte as claimed, perfect for a matte-beginner like me. Overall, yes, I do reach for these on occasions but don't love them enough to get more colors.

- Jam: grape-soda in the tube, swatches with more violet, and goes on my lip with some red tone, probably my lip color coming through.

- Zip: brick red in the tube, swatches more coral, and goes on my lips a punchier and brighter coral-red.

Jam and Zip.
