Sorry to say this, but I officially dislike Sekkisei Lotion and Emulsion. I got 2 deluxe GWP bottles that are decently sized and for the several weeks prior to leaving on my trip I struggled with these, trying my best to like them but ended up hating them every time. And no, I didn't take them with me on my trip. They simply just didn't make the cut.
Lotion: so the Kose Sekkisei line is "famous" for this lotion, which you can soak a sheet mask tablet in to use as a facial treatment. Honestly though, I shudder at that thought, because even when I pat just a few drops of the lotion onto my clean and bare skin, which almost always eliminates the stickiness factor from all other Japanese/Korean toners, it still left my face sticky as flypaper! I ended up either rinse off or splash more water on to relieve the stickiness. And they want me to wrap my face in it? No way in hell! Another problem I found with this toner is that it is very perfumy, and the fragrant is rather strong, which doesn't help its cause. Other than these unpleasantries, the toner is a clear runny watery liquid and is not viscous like most other Japanese toners.
Emulsion: this is a translucent milky emulsion that unfortunately has the same 2 problems as the lotion above, if not an even worse offender. I can't stand this emulsion at all, as it is incredibly sticky! Could it be my skin? But I even tried patting this emulsion on skipping the lotion, and still it was yucky. Why? I don't get it!
Anyway, my experience with these boggles my mind why anyone would pay the full (hefty) price for them. But hey, they are supposedly among some of the most popular whitening products in the Japanese market, and we all know Asian ladies loves that stuff. I don't give a rat's ass for whitening anything, so perhaps I was already biased against these before even trying them. Then again it wasn't like they proved me wrong :P I might get them for my mum, who loves loves loves whitening skincare, but I would never ever use these personally. Sorry Kose.
I never liked the emulsion too much, but I love the toner! It's supposed to be a wipe-off lotion, though, at least that's what I've heard.
ReplyDeleteFor masks, I found the Essence Mask better - my skin looked soo translucent afterwards! (Didn't see any whitening effect, but that's probably because I already look like a ghost.)
Hi Julia,
ReplyDeleteEeeps I can't imagine wiping the toner on my face +.+ And I really wanted to like both the toner and the emulsion!!! Though now you make me curious about the Essence Mask ^.^ May be I'll get it for my mum and then bum one off of her xD Hmm... *off brainstorming excuses*
