Laura Mercier Lip Glace

I'm pushing hard to get through the last few items from the Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Lips set. This one is Laura Mercier Lip Glace in the color Rose.

All pictures taken indoor with flash unless otherwise noted.

This Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Lips set includes mini sample sizes of Benefit Cosmetics Posietint in Poppy Pink, Smashbox Lip Enhancing Gloss in PoutUrban Decay Pocket Rocket in Doug, this Laura Mercier Lip Glace in Rose reviewing todayTarte Double Ended Lip Gloss in Danny-SandyBuxom Full-On Lip Polish Diamond in April, and a full size Korres Mango Butter Lipstick SPF10 in 14 Pink.

This Laura Mercier Lip Glace scared the beejeesus out of me when I first looked at it. It looks so opaque and pigmented in the tube I could have sworn it was liquid lipstick! So with that assumption I shelved it for months, never even curious enough to swatch or test it on my lips. Yes, I was very silly and a total chickenshit. Anyways, I finally started using it a couple of months ago and surprisingly enough, it became a mainstay in my bag!

First, the technicals. Texture wise, it feels similar to the Smashbox Lip Enhancing Gloss, being not too thick not too thin but just right. It's not sticky at all, and while I wouldn't wear it as replacement for lip balms, it's actually moisturizing. Last but not least, the vanilla fragrance is nice and not too sweet, with the added bonus of the gloss not having a sweet taste, which really turns me off. The applicator in this sample tube is a standard doe-foot applicator.

This picture and the one below are taken in natural light without flash.

- Rose: this color is nowhere near rose, at least in my opinion. The good news is that it's nowhere as scary as I imagined it to be. One day, out of the blue I thought of extending my lip staining method via lipstick to the other super pigmented lip glosses I own but haven't had the balls to try (erhh...I've never had any balls actually...). I was having a blast experimenting with all the lipsticks, so why not play with the glosses too, right? Anyway, I'm sooooooo glad I did, because after applying 1 layer on my lower lip and pressed to spread evenly, it turned out to be a gorgeous translucent raspberry on me! It's nice and moisturizing too, lasting all morning while I was in class. And if I wanted to revive the color but not reapplying the gloss, I just apply clear/sheer gloss over it and -poof- fresh, juicy, and glossy lips (this works the same way with lipstick-stained lips too, by the way)! Love it!
