Etude House Oh m'Eye Line

After the Etude House Tear Drop Eye Liner fail, I should have learned my lesson. But nope, I picked up these quirkily named Oh m'Eye Line that have now been discontinued, although they are still available on E(vil)bay and else where on line. They are available in 3 colors, 01 Black, 02 Gray, and 03 Brown, and I bought all three.

Etude House Oh m'Eye Line in 01 Black, 02 Gray, and 03 Brown. All pictures taken in natural light without flash.

Like the Tear Drop Eye Liners, these come in a cute but totally impractical vase-shaped pot with a dipping brush tip. And they're really annoying to store due to their shape, falling over at the slightest touch because the applicator hand is too long and heavy for the narrow base. The formula is nice, a thick gel-y ink that leaves a pigmented line, although the brush tip would always leave the pot with way too much ink and I'd have to wipe it off a little before applying. Being a thick ink they do take a couple of minutes to set so avoid blinking immediately after ^.^

Now, the question of lasting power. I did the finger rub test and they survived completely intact. I did the tissue rub test next and faired equally well, with 01 Black faded just a tiny little bit. The running water test was last and they were completely fine, that is, until I started rubbing them, at which point they peel right off. So think you're pretty safe with these, unless you cry a river and rubbing your eyes at the same time LOL! For $5.50 a piece that's really decent.

01 Black: an opaque and matte jet black. Dry matte as you can see below.

02 Gray: a shimmering smokey charcoal that's somewhat translucent. This is my favorite color out of the three, because instead of having scattered shimmers that don't show at all in the case of many other "shimmery" liquid eyeliners, this is a true shimmery ink that just lights up my eyes,, especially in the sun or under indoor lighting. The swatch picture below just doesn't do this color any justice at all! If you can only get just one of these liners and you're okay with shimmers, I definitely recommend this color.

03 Brown: an opaque and matte dark brown that leans warm when it dries.

From left to right: 01 Black, 02 Gray, and 03 Brown.

  2. Hi kuri,

Agree. Had I known the black and brown were both matte (and boring) I would have done without them both and would be totally fine with just the gray. Oh well.

    Cheers,
    D.
