Tsubaki Shining Shampoo

I believe it was last summer that the Tsubaki Hair Care line had a revamp. The original Tsubaki Shampoo in the red bottle became Tsubaki Shining Shampoo (and Conditioner), the white bottles changed from Golden Repair to Damage Care, complete with a new addition of the gold bottles of Head Spa (for deep cleansing, I think...). I was curious at the time, but thinking back to my disappointing experience with the Golden Repair Shampoo and Conditioner in 2008, I didn't feel like trying.

That is, until I stumbled upon this ridiculous deal at Don Quijote - a limited edition gift set with a pair of 550mL of the Tsubaki Shining Shampoo and Conditioner, and a full size 250mL Tsubaki Water, all for only 998yen including tax!

Tsubaki Limited Edition Shining Water Gift Set

Considering each 550mL bottle of shampoo and conditioner, the Tsubaki Water as well, has a suggested retail value of 924yen with tax, this gift set has a total suggested retail value of 2,772yen! Of course, you can get them individually for cheaper, and I've seen the 400mL refill pouches going for 498yen each and the Tsubaki Water for 798yen a bottle, but that's still way more than 998yen for all three! Damn, that's totally worth a try if you ask me ^.^

Back in 2008, I went for Golden Repair instead of the original red Tsubaki Shampoo because it had an overwhelming flowery scent that just didn't rub well with me, and by that I mean I hated that smell. Thank goodness they changed it for the better. The new Tsubaki Shining Shampoo has a surprisingly lovely tangy cherry scent, even more fruity cherry than the Macherie Moisture or Air Feel Shampoo! When I use it in conjunction with the Lux Super Rich Shine Conditioner, it turns into a sweeter vanilla butter cream fragrance that makes me want to lick my hair (I didn't -.-')!

Tsubaki Water, full size 250mL

The shampoo is nice too! While I still like Super Mild and Lux Super Rich Shine better, Tsubaki Shining Shampoo isn't too shabby at all ^.^ I don't notice any "shining," but hey I always tie my hair in a pony tail so if it was shining, I wouldn't be able to see it :P The most important aspect is that it doesn't turn my head all greasy the next day. Now that my hair is much longer, it tend to get greasy faster as my scalp can get oily. I guess I'm glad I tried this newer version after all ^.^ I haven't used the conditioner or the Tsubaki Water yet, but only because it's summer and I haven't ran out of my Lux Conditioner yet.
