Fresh Sugar Lip Gloss

Look at how adorable this trial size of Fresh Sugar Lip Gloss is! It's itty bitty yes, but hey, I'd rather carry around this tiny trial size than the gigantic and tacky tubes of whatever cosmetic item that are turning up in the drug store these days. Sorry if I offend anyone, but I sure don't have room in my bag those whales of lip gloss and mascara tubes! I understand perfectly the concept of "bang for your bucks," after all I just complained about the disparity between the price and size of LostRiverRags soaps. But, damn, we're not talking about bars of soaps here. It's lip glosses and mascaras! Have you seen those tubes at Target/Walmart/Walgreen/CVS/wherever? They're freakin' enormous! Instead of making those humongous tubes, can't they just make it half the size and cut half the price? I guess more packaging costs more money, but is it just me or do you notice too that American consumers just prefer big everything? Whatever happened to quality over quantity? We want big food portion, big whole sale packages, big cars, and, surprise surprise, big shopping carts! I remember coming home from Japan I was shocked to see that the shopping cart had doubled its size during my year abroad. Talking about reverse culture shock! Tsk tsk tsk *head shakes*

But I digress. Fresh Sugar Lip Gloss is not a drug store brand, and its full size isn't huge either (good for me, but may be not so for others). Sugar Flirt is the color I have, and given this small trial size I used it up in a few weeks' time, which is awesome since I rarely ever finish any of my cosmetic items! This may sound twisted and wrong, but finishing this tiny vial actually gave me a sense of accomplishment :P

The gloss was okay. Just another gloss with no special characteristic to blab about, really. The color looks red, but it was actually translucent, giving me lips a sheer tomato red wash. Decent, but nothing unique.

I would prefer smaller and cheaper too, especially for lip and mascara products - I hardly ever use them up!
It is very very satisfying when I do though, but I still have too many lip products that I get bored of.

Hi Kuri!

Me too!!! I hardly ever use anything up so when I see those huge tubes, I thought, oh man, how am I ever going to use all that stuff? And just like you, I get bored of a product after a few weeks, so I really prefer something smaller so I don't feel overwhelm with pressure to finish a product before I even start using it!

Exactly! Even if they're really wearable colors, I get bored quickly. But if I stick to the brands with smaller sizes, the formulas just aren't as interesting.
I will try buying only smaller sizes and see how it goes :)

Hi Kuri!

My trick is *not* ever buy the full size of anything :D I just keep an eye out for GWP or promotion packages that are almost always include a smaller size of certain brands' lip glosses. Then I actually buy what I need and use, and get to try those smaller lize lippies at the same time :) 2 birds with 1 stone ^.^

ah, that's a good point. I don't normally buy the holiday sets, but it's a good way to try smaller sizes of products that I'm interested in.

It doesn't have to be the holiday sets :) Most GWP promotions have a smaller size of a lippie something rather anyway. Also, Lancome, Estee Lauder, Clinique, Sephora, and many other brands will give free samples with any purchase and a lot of time, you'll have a choice of a smaller size lippie!

cool, I'll keep an eye out for that! it's funny, but it takes me forever to use up samples too, especially foundation samples. Very weird. but I appreciate samples more!
