Paul & Joe Lip Treatment Balm Part III

Without fail, these Paul & Joe Lip Treatment Balm has been my nightly lip mask for the past 5 years. Since I first tried the LE Treatment Balm L 004 Vin Chaud way back in the fall of 2020, not once did I waiver, not having even the slightest curiosity about any other lip balm, whether I'd find another that would be thick enough to use as an overnight lip mask, and not once was I bored and wanted to try something new. These are so good I will happily buy any and every limited edition or new flavor. As you'll see below, I didn't love every one of them, but you bet I'll at least try it.

Below are 3 different balms I've tried over the past 5 years: Treatment Balm L 005 StollenTreatment Balm D 002--a LE from the Paul & Joe x Doraemon 50th Anniversary Christmas 2020 collection, and Lip Treatment Balm Limited 004 from the Makeup Collection 2021 Day 20.

All pictures taken in natural light without flash.

- Treatment Balm L 005 Stollen: this was a gift from Caty (thank you, Caty!), a transparent orange-yellow in the tin but went on clear with a sweet spiced-orange scent. It was from the same collection with 004 Vin Chaud.

Paul & Joe has done a couple (a few?) collabs with Doraemon, and every single one of them was super popular. For example, when I belatedly learned about the Spring Collection 2019 the year after, the Japanese retail had pretty much sold out. I was dying for a Treatment Balm D 001 with Doraemon's outline raised on the surface and scented with his favorite dorayaki, but I was loathed to pay $50+ for an item that retailed for 2,000yen (~$13-14). Fortunately, Beauty Habit still had very limited stock of just the Lipstick D in LE 002 Happy Red, and I skipped the blue and pink versions because I thought they weren't worth the double-triple markup via other online hawkers shops. The formula for the lipstick turned out to be rather disappointing anyway, although that didn't stop the collection from selling like hotcakes.

For the holiday season in 2020, P&J did another Doraemon collab, this time to celebrate Doraemon 50th Anniversary. Again, the standouts for me were the lippies, with a Treatment Balm D 002 with Doremi's outline raised on the surface and scented with her favorite melonpan, and 3 Lipstick D in LE 004 Shiny Yellow & Vivid Red, 005 Glitter Blue & Romantic Pink (I initially skipped this color but later went back for it because the formula was a vast improvement from the previous Lipstick D), and 006 Twinkle Orange & Pink Beige.

- Treatment Balm D 002: supposedly melonpan scented but it smelled to me more like anko (sweet red bean paste) ^.^

And then there was the Lip Treatment Balm Limited 004 from the Paul & Joe Makeup Collection 2021 Day 20. It was teeny with only 6g/0.21oz. of product, exactly half sized, but since it was a part of an advent calendar and came with a super cute tin, I was happy with it.

- Lip Treatment Balm Limited 004: this one was pretty to look at, an iridescent clear pink in the pot but went on totally clear with visible shimmers. It was also spearmint scented which I found refreshing. The problem? It was chock full of larger shimmer particles and felt gritty on my lips. Don't get me wrong, I still use it, but at my desk instead of at night before bed.
