Givenchy Le Rouge Perfecto

Back in the spring of 2021, I was browsing Harrods UK looking for a Suqqu lippie that was sold out at Selfridges UK and found these Givenchy Le Rouge Perfecto on sale instead ^.^ These were retailing for $37 at the time (now $39-49, depends on the source) but Harrods had marked them down to $18-26, so I happily picked up one of each color they had in stock: a Givenchy Le Rouge Perfecto Trio with 01 Perfect Pink, 03 Sparkling Pink, and 04 Blue Pink, another 01 Perfect Pink in LE packaging, 02 Intense Pink, and a LE 05 Spirited.

All pictures taken in natural light without flash.

I don't remember what the original retail was for this Le Rouge Perfecto Trio, but I bought it at $51, which was an absolute steal for three lippies and a bonus pouch!

Le Rouge Perfecto has been one of Givenchy's bestsellers since they were first released in 2016. They're supposedly sheer lipsticks that nourish, plump, and react to the wearer's Ph and adjust to a tint unique to that person. These indeed have a lovely formula that applies with nice tug and a balmy texture that's slightly waxy in a pleasant way. They're moisturizing, has a slight minty tingly sensation, and leaves a balmy sheen. They are scented with a nice and sweet fragrance, decently pigmented, and yes, they stain.

The stain is vibrant too, but not garish (phew!). I would say together, the lippie and the stain have great staying power. The lippie lasts for a few hours. After the product is gone, I still have the pretty stain it leaves behind. I just need a dab of clear balm or gloss on top and--wahlah--it's like I just applied a new lippie. No wonder these are popular. I love them too!

Before going into the colors, I want to talk about the packaging. Save for a few items, the rest of Givenchy lip products are house in lightweight aluminum (I think) tubes wrapped with genuine leather. For Le Rouge Perfecto, the leather is a pale peachy pink color, with an occasional change for limited edition items, like the LE 01 Perfect Pink and the LE 05 Spirited below. The tube looks and feels luxurious, even if the cap doesn't always snap in snugly and the whole thing becomes a little loose and click-clacky. I still think the tubes could be a bit slimmer although by Western standards, the tubes are already pretty slim.

From Le Rouge Perfecto Trio:
- 01 Perfect Pink (regular packaging): a semi-translucent pale peachy pink bullet that turns a transparent coral pink on my lips. Leaves a bright medium-pink stain. Very pretty.

I picked up a second tube of this same color, 01 Perfect Pink, in a LE packaging of super smooth and satiny leather in a medium coral color.

- 03 Sparkling Pink: a shimmery tawny pink bullet that turns a medium-pink leaning cool on my lips, though not quite cool enough to be called lotus pink. It leaves a bright hot pink stain. This one is loaded with fine shimmers that leave a wet metallic sheen on the lips. That said, the shimmers are undetectable on my lips, and the balm applies and feels just as nice and smooth as the shimmer-free colors. Normally I don't like shimmers in my lippies, but this one I love, because I don't feel the shimmers.

- 04 Blue Pink: a semi-translucent deep purplish-blue bullet with sparse and chunky multi-colored glitters. It turns a vivid deep-magenta on my lips. This is probably my least favorite one of the bunch, but only because of the chunky shimmers that render the balm gritty. Otherwise, the deep magenta stain is surprisingly flattering.

From the permanent line-up:
- 02 Intense Pink: a semi-translucent mauve-pink bullet that turns a vibrant rose that leans warm on my lips. I think they should have called this color bright rose, because "Intense Pink" makes it sound like this color would turn hot pink or bright fuchsia but it doesn't ^.^ It leaves a bright pink stain indistinguishable from the hot-pink stain of 03 Sparkling Pink.

- LE 05 Spirited: a shimmer-free and semi-transparent juicy navel orange bullet that applies very coral on my lips. This color vastly differs from the others in the permanent lineup that way--it imparts a definite color and there's no reaction to the wearer's Ph or adjustment to a unique tint. Leaves a bright coral stain. Very pretty!

And this color comes in a gorgeous LE ombre leather case with maraschino red at one end that fades to a bright white.

From left to right: 01 Perfect Pink, 02 Intense Pink, 03 Sparkling Pink, 04 Blue Pink, and 05 Spirited swatches (top) and stains (bottom). Both the swatches and the stains appear much weaker on the back of my hands but are more intense on my lips.
