L'Occitane Shower Gels

Over the years I've used and posted about quite a few Shower Gels from L'Occitane, and instead of having those posts scattered about, I thought I'd gather them all into one post here.

Bonne Mere Peach Shower Gel

Finally used up the tube of Biotherm Lait de Douche Cleansing Shower Milk and happily moved on to this 300mL/10.1fl. oz. bottle of L'Occitane Bonne Mere Peach Shower Gel.

This shower gel is slightly stronger scented than the Peach Bonne Mere Soap (will post a bulk soap review later). Actually, make that really strong. However, it's a nice scent, kind of tropical fruity with a flowery bent and nothing reminiscent of peach. I actually like the scent ^.^

The body wash itself is okay. It does foam, but nothing too crazy like the Japanese body washes (currently also using Super Mild Body Soap). It rinses off well too but can be tad harsh so I don't use a lot of it. Glad I got it on sale because I definitely wouldn't pay full retail for it.

Pivoine Flora Shower Gel

Almost done with the L'Occitane bath and body ^.^ This is the 75mL/2.5fl oz. travel size bottle of the Pivoine Flora Shower Gel. I have two of these, one from the Pivoine Flora Spring Set and one from the Brighten Up Collection I got as GWP. I ended up giving one, along with the Pivoine Flora Beauty Milk (will review next) to complete the pair, to my cousin J. when she visited me in March.

Pivoine Flora Spring Set, which includes 75mL/2.5fl oz. each of this Shower Gel and Beauty Milk, 1oz. Hand Cream, and 100g/3.5oz. Rose Bonne Mere Soap (will review later).

The Brighten Up Collection also includes 75mL/2.5fl oz. each of this Shower Gel and Beauty Milk, 1.7fl. oz Immortelle Brightening Cleansing Foam, 30mL/1fl oz. Immortelle Essential Water, 0.3fl oz. Immortelle Brightening Essence, and a 0.01oz. sample packet of Immortelle Brightening Shield SPF40/PA+++.

This is a milder body wash than most other L'Occitane body washes I've used, though not as mild as my recent favorite Bonne Mere Gentle Body Wash Milk. I have to say I like this scent, even if I find it a tad too strong and more like a flowery rose than peony, although I should also add I have no idea what peonies smell like ^.^ At least it smells really nice on hubby, and who wouldn't want their men to smell of peonies and roses? My cousin J. agreed it smells nice too, and she is also sensitive to fragrances, so this is one of the better fragrances that L'Occitane carries, in my humble opinion.

Spring Cherry Iridescent Shower Gel

Almost done with this 75mL/2.5fl oz. travel size bottle of L'Occitane Spring Cherry Iridescent Shower Gel from the Springtime Cherry Collection this past spring.

The Springtime Cherry Collection comes with 75mL/2.5fl oz. each of this Iridescent Shower Gel, Velvet Moisturizing Gel, which I will review next, 50g/1.7oz. Spring Cherry Soap, and a 1oz. Spring Cherry Hand Cream.

***Screencap from L'Occitane USA.

As an added bonus, this collection comes in an adorable snap clutch in hot pink cherry blossom print on pastel pink cotton background. Inside, the clutch is lined with matching hot pink cotton too ^.^

This body wash is a clear transparent pale pink with pretty scattered shimmers in it. And that's about all there is to it, yep. I find this Spring Cherry scent quite interesting. Its top nope is nothing reminiscent of cherry. Instead, if you have ever had ume flavored anything, like umeboshi for example, you will immediately recognized this scent. Yes, this Spring Cherry scent has a top note of powdery ume. Way to catch my attention and distinguish itself, huh? This ume top note doesn't last, of course, and it quickly fade to a flowery scent that I didn't like so much.

But yeah, other than the neat ume-tinge fragrance, there's nothing special about this shower gel. Not worth the full retail at all. If you are curious about the scent, get the Hand Cream instead, because at least it will keep your hands soft and nicely scented for a while ^.^

Aromachologie Revitalizing Shower Gel

Among the dozen of travel size bottles of body wash in my shower is this 35mL/1.18fl oz. L'Occitane Aromachologie Revitalizing Shower Gel. It came from the French Travel Treasures Set and is supposed to be paired with the Aromachologie Relaxing Body Lotion

French Travel Treasures Set

If you're shy with the other L'Occitance body washes with head-bashing fragrances, this one is a good alternative with a nice, woodsy, herbal-y scent, plus a dash of bitter citrus and menthol. When my cousin visited me back in March, she went straight for this one as the others were too perfumy for her.

As with most L'Occitance body washes with the exception of my recent love Bonne Mere Gentle Body Wash Milk, there's not much else that makes this body wash stands out other than the scent. It's not as drying as the others though, I will give that much. But is this enough to warrant the $20 price tag for a full size 8.4fl oz. bottle? My honest opinion is no. Time to move on.

Green Tea Shower Gel

Been curious about L'Occitane Green Tea line for the longest time and snatched up this Green Tea Trio promptly when it went on sale ^.^

L'Occitane Green Tea Trio, which includes a 75mL/2.5fl oz. Shower Gel, which I'm reviewing in this post, 30mL/1oz. Moisturizing Hand Gel, and a 50g Soap.

Wow, L'Occitane just sank to a new low for me and now I'm really questioning the quality of their bath and body products! This Green Tea Shower Gel is also extremely perfumy. Even worse is that the "green tea" stinks like a copy cat of the White Tea and Ginger fragrance from Bath and Body Works! I used the White Tea and Ginger line waaaaay back in the mid-late 90's, so there is no question who was around first. If that's not problematic enough for you, consider that this 75mL/2.5fl oz. travel size bottle is $8 while the Bath and Body Works' White Tea and Ginger Shower Gel is 295mL/10fl oz. for $11

And if you're wondering, this shower gel is nothing special. Just your average body wash. Boo, L'Occitane. Shame on you.

Verbena Shower Gel

The L'Occitane Verbena Shower Gel is also from the L'Occitane Getaway Treasures set, which also includes the Shea Ultra Rich Shampoo, Shea Ultra Rich Conditioner, Verbena Body Lotion, Lavender Hand Cream, Shea Extra Gentle Soap Milk, and Shea Extra Gentle Soap Lavender (more reviews to come later).

Hmm...what can I say, this is your average body wash, nothing special here. Because it is a gel, I took it overseas with me to use in the humidity there. The verbena smells nice. The touch of citrus in it was refreshing, especially in the heat.

But again, $8 for 2.5 oz. of "average" body wash is just ridiculous, so my affair with the Verbena Shower Gel ends with my return from my trip, much like the shampoo and conditioner. I wouldn't really recommend this shower gel. There's really nothing special about it at all, except for the price, of course.
