Paul & Joe Powder Blush

For more than a decade, I'd stayed away from powder blushes and used exclusively liquid, gel, or cream blushes. And then sometimes last year, I started to notice more and more freckles and sun spots on my face. At first I didn't understand why, because my sunscreen habits have not changed. If anything, I reapply more often now thanks to those super convenient sun sticks. Sure, I'm getting older and aging skin is more prone to freckles and sun spots, but if that were the case, why did those spots appear only on the apple of my cheeks, where I usually apply blushes?

So I experimented a bit: for a period of 6 months, I stopped using any liquid, gel, or cream blushes and switched back to powder blushes. Sure enough, no new freckles and sun spots. So it seems the liquid, gel, and cream blushes were corrupting my waterproof sunscreen wherever I apply them. Boo. Hiss. Anyhoo, I'm so glad I didn't get rid of all of my powder blushes. In fact, I'd gone back and picked up those pretty Suqqu powder cheeks I'd been eyeing for years now but thought I'd never use them.

Of course, Paul & Joe Powder Blush enjoyed a revival with me as well (and I get to play with the pretty Face Colors again!). Here's a lovely one from the Makeup Collection 2021 on Day 5, Powder Blush 012, and the Compact L02 that comes with it, on Day 4.

All pictures taken in natural light without flash.

- Compact L02, Day 4: super cute and slim, with magnetic flap for closure but no mirror.

- Powder Blush 012, Day 5: a shimmery pale pink against a satiny warm medium pink with peachy undertone. Use separately or combine them both for a warm and shimmery wash that delivers a healthy and fresh look.

From left to right: this Powder Blush 012 in Compact L02, and Foundation Primer Limited 002 from the same Makeup Collection, on Day 16.
