Philosophy Shampoo Bath & Shower Gel Part II

I was at Nordstrom Rack picking up a few odds and ends when I spotted a display of Philosophy bath & body products. Now, I've tried a 30mL travel size bottle of Shampoo Bath & Shower Gel almost ten years ago and didn't like it, but I was using that bottle during travel where lots of things could have contributed to a less than pleasant experience, so I decided to give it another try and picked up several items because of the yummy scents. In this post, I'll be reviewing more of the Shampoo Bath & Shower Gels.

I'll start with the giant 700mL/24fl. oz. bottle in the scent Amazing Grace, the same one as the travel size I first tried but didn't like. Risky, yes, but when I smelled this scent again in the store, it didn't bother me as much as it did so many years ago. In fact, this time around the feminine scent reminded me of the old Pert Plus Shampoo that isn't sold anymore, at least I don't see it in stores. And the scent stayed on my hair for a looong time and I could still smell it a whole 24hrs later! An added bonus was that it went quite well with the extra Roland & Botanical Conditioner I had.

However, all the good feelings ended there. I think Philosophy might have reformulated this Shampoo Bath & Shower Gel, because while I remember the travel size bottle not foaming well, this stuff foamed like crazy--think Japanese shampoo and body soap, only super duper thick! The first few times I used this as shampoo, after rinsing my hair felt really dry and totally stripped, so I diluted it a bunch with water (1 part water, 2 part product). Even then, it still foamed like mad and was still harsh on my hair, even with conditioning afterwards. Hubby didn't like it either because it was stripping for his hair too.

Since I had to dilute the 700mL bottle of Amazing Grace, it took many months for hubby and I to finish it. By then, we both agreed that the 480mL/16fl. oz. bottle of Apricots and Cream was a yummy-smelling hand wash. Yep, that was what we used it for, our hands, because it was so harsh and drying for our hair, and we didn't dare to use it on our body. My skin is already super dry as it is!

After Apricots and Cream, hubby and I used the 480mL/16fl. oz. bottle of Pure Grace as hand wash as well. Well, mostly me because hubby gave up on this stuff long ago. I liked the scent though! It was like a lighter version of Amazing Grace with a dash of lime, pretty nice and summery scent. After this bottle though, I too gave up and donated the rest, including the bottle of Pure Grace Body Emulsion (pictured). Will not repurchase ever and do not recommend.
