Visee x Aula Aila Glam Shade Eyes

Happy New Year!!!

These are two limited edition Visee x Aula Aila Glam Shade Eyes in BR-9 Gypsy Gold and BR-10 Nostalgic Bronze. I picked them up the summer of 2013 along with two other palettes in the regular line-up BR-2 and GR-5, having spotted them on sale at Adam Beauty (not affiliated!).

BR-9 Gypsy Gold and BR-10 Nostalgic Bronze. All pictures taken in natural light without flash.

Just as BR-2 and GR-5 pleasantly surprised me, I ended up liking these limited edition ones as well and I'm glad I have them. They're great earth-toned palettes and are good for the office skipping the sparkly top wash. As noted with BR-2 and GR-5, the base and highlighter shade in these palettes are very pigmented, surprisingly so for a base/highlighter, but they are drier than the rest. This is to say go easy on them or you'll end up with frosty eyes. Also, the lid shades in these two palettes are even more pigmented than those in BR-2 and GR-5. Awesome!

BR-9 Gypsy Gold: my oh my, I suppose the folks at Visee didn't look up how the word "gypsy" is used (as a racial slur against the Romani people). Think what would happen if there's an eye shadow called "n-word black" - there would be an uproar, no? I really think Japan should get off their asses and do their due diligence with names so we won't have any more disasters like "cream collons" and "homo sausages". Sigh *shakes head* Aside from the palette's racially and politically charged name though, the burnish gold color scheme is beautiful. Although it leans warm, it's still super easy to wear.

From left to right:
- Base/highlighter: shimmer, medium intensity. Looks a golden cream in the pan but goes on off white.
- Lid shade: metallic, high intensity. A gorgeous burnish gold.
- Medium crease shade: semi metallic, high intensity. A lovely golden brown.
- Liner shade: shimmer, high intensity. A brownish gray.
- Sparkling top wash: high shimmer, very sheer. Looks a golden beige in the pan but goes on almost transparent.

BR-10 Nostalgic Bronze: they call this palette bronze but I see plum browns ^.^ Either way, it's mostly neutral, perhaps only leaning warm with the lid shade. I'd say it's similar to BR-2, which is a plummy taupe palette, versus this being a plummy brown palette.

From left to right:
- Base/highlighter: shimmer, medium intensity. Looks a beige in the pan but again goes on off white.
- Lid shade: metallic, high intensity. A taupe plum, similar to the medium crease shade in BR-2 only more plummy and pigmented.
- Medium crease shade: semi metallic, high intensity. A bronzy brown.
- Liner shade: shimmer, high intensity. A bitter chocolate.
- Sparkling top wash: high shimmer, very sheer. Looks a pretty beige in the pan but goes on almost transparent.
