Back in January, Citrine and I did a mini swap and she kindly surprised me with a Butter London Cheeky Cream Blush in the color Ruby Murray. As you know I love me some cream blushes, so I wore this along with two newly acquired Stila Convertible Colors consistently everyday for about 3 months from January-March, so it's time for a review (will review the Stilas later).
All pictures taken in natural light without flash.
This is my very first Butter London item and I absolutely love the color! Thanks so much Citrine ^.^ I think the packaging's big and clunky, but I understand not everyone's utilitarian like me. I much prefer the Canmake practical approach, ugly yes, but they don't take up too much space. For a nicer-looking compact, I think Stila does a good job. Their Convertible Color compacts are thin and sleek and hold slightly more product too, at 4.25g versus Butter London's 4g.
But I like this Butter London formula. It feels drier and not as creamy and opaque like Stila, but it blends out to a translucent veil of color versus Stila's powdery finish. I love both, so no complaints here whatsoever.
- Ruby Murray: a lovely deep plum that's shimmer free and is very flattering on me. The color is such that it was perfect for the January-March weather when it's mostly cloudy and gloomy. You know how the cheeks flush a certain color when you're cold? I've always wanted to replicate that look but could never get it quite right, until now ^.^ So I'm pretty stoked. Will definitely rotate this back next fall!

Pretty! I feel like I would need to use a really light hand with this color though.
I'm with you on sleek packaging! A couple of my Canmakes have broken at the hinge though which is annoying.
Hi kuri,
Yeah, Canmake was a bad example and I should have said Addiction instead ^.^
Cheers,
D.
Oh, boy....I should have kept the 4-dollar marshall sticker on(instead of the half ass peel). There is another dusty-rose coral available when I looked but it has fingerdip allover it...
Speaking of which, I haven't tried any new stila convertible for a long long time.
Hey Citrine,
Aww man, I would have totally digged the dusty-rose coral. Oh well. Thanks for this surprise. I love it!
I really love Stila Convertibles but I only bite when they're on sale ^.^
Cheers,
D.
