Estee Lauder Act IV Lip Duet Tint + Balm

Every once in a while, Estee Lauder does an interesting limited edition release, like this Act IV Makeup Collection that was released in 2020 (yes, I'm only now posting about a product I've been using for five years!). Among all the things that were part of the collection, only this Lip Duet Tint + Balm caught my eyes, because it's a pair of clear and tinted balms in a dual-ended tube.

All pictures taken in natural light without flash.

Let's start with the packaging. The whole collection had this white marbled packaging that's weighty and substantial, but in the end it was still plastic. I wish it was metal or enameled. And given that there's at least an inch of space in between the two balm bullets, this wasted space makes the dual-ended tube needlessly long and bulky. In my small hand, it feels more like a heavy baton than a tube of lip balm--I could beat someone with this thing and it would probably hurt quite a bit (not that I plan to...)! It's not exactly portable or purse-friendly either. How am I supposed to be able to carry this giant thing around in my small backpack?

But other than the giant tube, I'm happy to report that the balms have a beautiful formula with a texture that's smooth but not waxy, a tingling minty sensation that I love. The finish is a satiny balmy sheen but not glossy. It's very moisturizing and decently long lasting as well.

- Lip Duet Tint: shimmer-free, transparent neutral red, perfect for daily wear.

- Lip Duet Balm: clear balm with a shinier finish than the tint but not enough to be glossy.
