I was hoping my last Naive Facial Cleansing Foam in Aloe would finish sooner so I can start using the Peach one, but it lasted all the way through December, so I got impatient and started using the Peach one anyway :P
And what do you know - I like the Peach one much better! It actually smells better! It still has a little bit of that generic soap smell, but mix in with a bit of peach and powder. During washing, it actually reminds me of the soft powdery fragrance of the original Olay beauty bar (couldn't find a good picture - I guess they don't make those anymore!), before they added all sorts of different scents, formulas, and whatnot. So yeah, I guess I really like the scent of this Facial Cleansing Foam in Peach.
For comparison sake, the Peach one actually gentler and less stripping than the Aloe one. I use the same amount to wash my face, but the Peach hasn't dry out my face yet and I've been using it daily for more than 2 weeks now. And given how dry it is in my apartment right, that's pretty darn good! We'll see if it will keep up though. It's not my perfect face wash, so the search's still on. I enjoy trying different stuff anyway, so it's not like the search will end anytime soon :)

Hey. I really enjoy your blog as I'm really interested in the stuff you review on. I have been using Shiseido Pureness (the whole set) and it's been doing great for my skin. I was wondering how the Naive Facial Cleansing Foam compares to the Pureness one. Do you use the foam as a second wash after cleansing oil? I was thinking of trying the Anessa Sunscreens but wasn't sure if cleansing oil + cleansing foam was a requirement for that product. Thanks for your time.
Hi there anonymous!
Thanks so much for reading! I'm glad you found the things I reviewed interesting :)
Unless Shiseido reformulate their Pureness Deep Cleansing Foam recently, I would say the Pureness is a lot harsher than the Naive Facial Cleansing Foam. And yes, after using a cleansing oil to remove my sunscreen, I do use the Naive cleanser as a follow up cleanser (in the shower).
The makers of the cleansers would tell you that a follow up cleanser is *required* after an oil cleanser, but I have used an oil cleanser by itself and I'm still alive :D Honestly though, if you're just using the oil cleanser to remove light makeup, I wouldn't bother with a follow up cleanser. That said, make sure you have a good oil cleanser on hand because not all oil cleansers are made equal.
If you're planning on using the cleansing oil to remove heavier makeup or a Japanese-made water-resistant sunscreen (and the Anessa sunscreen is one), then yes, you should follow up with another cleanser after using the oil cleanser. In this case, I'd recommend picking a gentle follow up cleanser to prevent stripping your skin bare.
My last 2 cents - I do think the Pureness cleanser is too harsh to use as a follow up cleanser, not to mention expensive ($21, right?). There are many foaming cleansers out there that are not harsh and cost half as much :) Try your local Asian grocery store :)
Good luck!
