The reason why I am guessing is that, well, major cities in Japan have so many bustling sites and shopping districts it's really truly difficult to pinpoint which of them is the "downtown." Yokohama is the 2nd largest city in Japan by population after all, second only after Tokyo itself, so go figure.
Let's just say hubby and I weren't in Minato Mirai to just sightseeing. There was actually business to attend to, or rather, finding directions to, so we had to scout in advance to ensure our timeliness as being late is a serious social faux pas here.

Yep, that is an amusement park at the foot of the Cosmo Clock 21!
The Yokohama Landmark Tower (tallest building in Japan!) at far left with the Pacifico Yokohama at far right.

The Yokohama Bay Bridge up close.
All in all, despite the hot and humid weather, it was a beautiful walk along the shore line with a spectacular view! We would have stuck around to see the night lights, but then we'd be delicious mosquito food, so we spared ourselves and went home :P
