This 12.5g/0.43oz. jar of RMK Eye Balm was among the several RMK items I purchased from Selfridges UK before they stopped carrying the brand. Since finishing Sulwhasoo TimeTreasure Renovating Eye Cream EX, I needed a more intense eye treatment for my nighttime routine and picked out this RMK jar as well as Grown Alchemist Hydra-Repair Eye Balm (will post next).
To be honest, this balm greatly surprised me, and in good ways. Unlike some "balms" that are more like creams or even lotions, this
is an actual true balm: thick, slightly waxy, and very moisturizing. It comes in a generously sized 12.5g jar with a weighty metal "spoon" (okay, applicator) that I'm supposed to chill and cup over my eyes to de-puff, although I haven't tried that yet. Since the boys arrived, I've never slept enough to get puffy eyes ^.^"
The product descriptions from Selfridges UK says there's a floral citrus
scent, and sure enough there's a faint but sweet citrus scent that I find rather pleasant.
To apply, I rub the tip of my ring finger on the
surface to pick up some, rub my two ring fingertips together to warm and
melt the balm, then dab along the under-eye area as well as on the lids and the tail of the eyes. The slight waxiness makes me think it doesn't
quite "soak" into the skin, but regardless it feels nice and luxurious, and it leaves my eye area well-moisturized and perfect for this weather.
I've been using this balm for more than a month now and have only made a slight dent, which means I'll definitely wrap it up and put it away when the weather gets too warm again. I'm disappointed they've discontinued this Eye Balm--they've revamped the whole RMK skincare line. There's a new "Concentrated Eye Gel" but I'm wary of it because of the gel texture, which is usually not enough for my dry skin. Oh well, this jar will definitely last me for one more winter at least, so I'll just enjoy it while it lasts.
