Among the last order I placed with Boscia before they closed up their North American chapter was this big 100mL/3.4fl. oz. tube of Cica Soothing Universal Cream. By this point, Cica (Centella asiatica) has become a super trendy ingredient. I'd seen it everywhere and everybody and their sisters and brothers have some kind of Cica product to offer. But I figured I'd start with Boscia since I've used their products for decades now and trust the brand more so than some "hip" beauty brand I've never heard of. Little did I know that some months later, Boscia would fold T.T
This universal cream is meant to be used everywhere, face and body, although I'm using it exclusive on my face. Why? Because it's actually a really nice cream, so I think I'd be a waste to use on the body, especially now that the brand is no longer and I can't get more of it.
This comes out of the tube a medium thick cream with a somewhat spicy herbal fragrance. Surprisingly, it really is as soothing as it claims! And it's way more moisturizing than
expected too. I apply this after an early afternoon bath when I
normally apply a sleeping mask instead. The first time I tried this cream, I expected taut skin and then an oily face after a few
hours (the skin over-compensates when it lacks moisture, and the result
is an overproduction of oil, which is why it's important to moisturize
adequately), but to my surprise neither happened! In fact, my skin was happy,
soft, and balanced. No oily face--wow! I would totally repurchase if the cream was still available :( Still, I'm encouraged to try out another Cica cream from a different brand now that Boscia's gone.
