PN Blossoming Face Color Part II

This is a bit of a blast from the past, but I've been using these PN Blossoming Face Color (For Cheeks) for a loooooong time now. Since they were discontinued several years earlier, I wasn't in a hurry to post about them, but I guess I'm not being fair. So here's the much much much belated post, especially since these two have been excellent blushes still, after all these years!!!

The Blossoming Face Color range had 4 colors, 2 of which are highlighters/finishing powders and comes in Lucent Orange and Lucent Blue (and by blue they meant lilac), though I don't have a picture of this Blue color and can't seem to find one anywhere on the web either! The remaining 2 are blushes and comes in 16 Pink Rose and 26 Coral Orange, which is why their names have the "(For Cheeks)" attached, as if people couldn't figure it out by looking at the colors themselves. Also, this is kind of trivial, but I have seen these blushes being called Fresh Color Veil, and yet on the original packaging for both 16 Pink Rose and 26 Coral Orange, it definitely says Blossoming Face Color and I don't see Fresh Color Veil anywhere, not even on Shiseido's official website for PN (which stands for Pieds Nus), which still has a product page for these blushes. Perhaps it was marketed as Fresh Color Veil else where?

PN Blossoming Face Color

PN is an old and discontinued line from Shiseido. It is a well-loved predecessor of Maquillage, although Maquillage has done a great job catching up with PN's old fan base :)

While I don't have many experience with PN, I do own a couple of powder and blush items and I like them a lot! Today I am reviewing Blossoming Face Color in Lucent Orange.

First and foremost I want to comment on the packaging of this power. Even though it has its faults, I just love this power case! The powder case is so sleek and smooth, not squarish and oddly shaped like its successor Maquillage's. I don't know if you could tell from my picture above, but the sides of the case are shaped like a droplet of water. It just fits perfectly in the palm of my hand! And the faults? Well, just one, but because the 2 sides of the compact are raised above the power, it is rather difficult to pick up the 2 farthest colors evenly with a round face/powder/blush brush! This case was meant for use with the flat brush it came with, which to me is a bit...user unfriendly. Regardless, I still love it :P

While the powder is called "Lucent Orange," as you can see, there's nothing orange about this powder. It's completely translucent, save for some shimmers for a slight highlighting effect. I say slight because the shimmers aren't obvious at all, with the lightest section most shimmery and the darkest section matte. To the touch, the powder feels a bit dry, but it applies rather soft with no chalky residue and definitely not drying.

To the touch, the powder feels a bit dry, but it applies rather soft with no chalky residue and definitely not drying. It's a much better setting powder than the Amazing Cosmetics Powderset, I must say! I would even compare it to the Estee Lauder Aeromatte Ultralucent Pressed Powder, only it is not completely matte.

Shiseido Brands

Some well known Shiseido brands are: The Makeup, The Skincare, SunCare, Benefiance, Pureness, Maquillage, Majolica Majorca, PN, Cle de Peau, Integrate, Tsubaki, and Super Mild. There are a bunch of others too I did not list, solely because I either haven't heard of them, know nothing of them, or just not interested :)

See a complete listing of all Shiseido brands (in Japanese).

CURRENTLY USING (in conjunction with others)
Maquillage
Highlighters, blushes, and eye shadows from this mid-end brand have unbelievably fine and silky texture. Many people like its lip products as well. The packaging is totally out of wack though. After T'estimo, this is the second brand I got into. Will post individual reviews later.

PN (Pied Nus)
Highlighters and blushes from this mid-end brand are excellent. Sadly, it has been discontinued in 2005, phased out slowly to be completely replaced by Maquillage above. Will post reviews later.

Majolica Majorca
Blushes and eye shadows from this brand are super affordable ($4-6) and the quality is absolutely amazing! If you want a good introduction to Japanese makeup without breaking your piggie bank, this is the brand to try. Will post reviews later.

Super Mild Hair Products
The first time I used Super Mild shampoo, I hated its Floral scent (the white/pink bottles). Still, after just one use I was convinced enough to venture out to the drugstore to find its Fruit scent (the white/green bottles)! Both hubby and I are devoted followers now, and we panic every time our bottle runs low. It lathers well, and keeps both our hair smooth, soft, and best of all, weightless! I have super straight hair that used to be a complete greasy mess the next day, but not with Super Mild! And I love that Fruit scent, it's so subtle and yet lingering, not perfumy at all!
