SkinLite Aloe Essence Mask

More SkinLite sheet masks! My illogic just don't quit, does it? :P

But to my surprise, this Aloe Essence Mask was actually very nice and hydrating! Wow, a SkitLite sheet mask that works for once. Oops, did I just say that out loud? :P I left it on for about 15-20 minutes and my skin was nice and soft and feels very plumb. So I guess that means it did deliver the hydration it promised! I'm totally curious about the wash-off version of this mask now :D

It smells nice, nothing like you would expect an "aloe" product to smell like (you know how they all have this "aloe-y" scent?), but it's not bad. I can't even describe the scent, it just smells fresh. I put this in my fridge and applying it chilled was an awesome experience. So cool and refreshing. Ahh... I'll definitely do this again on a hot summer day!

SkinLite Cucumber and Green Tea Essence Masks

I have previously tried the wash-off versions, Hydrating Cucumber Masque and the Re-Energizing Green Tea Masque, and found both of them disappointingly blah. However, Encouraged by my experience with the wash-off SkinLite Strawberry Yogurt Masque, I decided to give SkinLite Cucumber and Green Tea Essence Masks nother chance. My logic, or rather illogic, was this: since the SkinLite masks were pretty much hit and miss, I might as well try them all. I was somehow hopeful that with this method, I will happen upon something that will work for me.

Not making much sense, right? Yeah, I thought so :D I didn't know what the hell I was thinking either, because -what do you know- both of the sheet mask versions were not that much better than their wash-off counterparts. Ha. They were a little better, but just a little, and not enough to justify anymore money spent on my part (like it was justifiable to begin with LOL).

The cucumber mask still smelled very much like cucumber.

The green tea mask smelled nice, but that was about it.

I really wished these sheet masks were better. I mean, what's the point of putting something on your face only to feel as though you didn't put anything on at all? Now, in terms of makeup, people would call this the "natural" look, as in spending tons of time and products to make one's face look as though it is bare. However, only in the makeup world one can actually get away with this irony. This is skincare, and when spending tons of time and products only to have one's face looks like it hadn't been cared for, people get mad, you know?

Oh well. Next.

SkinLite Strawberry Yogurt Masque

Let's just say the SkinLite Strawberry Yogurt Masque singlehandedly restored my confidence in brand's wash-off masks. After repeatedly disappointing experiences with both the Hydrating Cucumber Masque and Green Tea Re-Energizing Masque, I didn't expect much at all. In fact, my thoughts were, urgh, it's going to be another pulpy mask. But thankfully I was utterly completely wrong.

The Strawberry Yogurt Masque was actually more, okay, a whole lot more, delicious than disgusting. Upon opening the package, I was wondering why I am going to put this yummy smelling goodness on my face and not in my mouth instead. It's texture was impressively creamy, unlike the light gel-cream Suki Strawberry Yogurt Pack, another decent wash-off mask I'm near finishing. And here's the part that seriously confused the foodie-wannabe in me - it smelled exactly, and I mean exactly, like the Strawberry Yoplait!

It was instant relief the moment I smoothed the mask on, very soothing and comfortable. It dried to a translucent film, and upon contact with water it puffed up in the same manner Avon Hydrofirming Drench Recovery Mask, only it was not gooey and was rather easy to rinse off. After rinsing, my face felt like I had just put on moisturizer and I didn't need anything else other than my eye cream. The mask was overall very pleasant, the texture, the scent, the moisturization, it was everything I wanted it to be!

Last but not least, it goes for only $1 each on Sasa.com! You bet I'm stocking up. Just did :D

SkinLite Re-Energizing Green Tea Masque

SkinLite Re-Energizing Green Tea Masque is another pulpy mask, much like the Hydrating Cucumber Masque of the same brand. Perhaps they all are made that way? This doesn't bother me much though. What bothered me was the fact that this mask was only just a tad different than the cucumber one - its scent. It was supposed to smell like green tea, but it turned out to be more like the Bath & Body Works Citrus Lime & Verbena. It didn't smell bad, just that it didn't smell like green tea at all!

But yeah, there's no difference at all between this green tea and the cucumber mask - they both did nothing for me, unfortunately. This one felt just a touch, a touch, moisturizing than the cucumber, but that was hardly worth mentioning. Another waste of money...sigh...

SkinLite Hydrating Cucumber Masque

Whenever I have time to put on a mask, I prefer sheet masks over wash-off masks. I just think the sheet masks are a bit more convenient in that I don't have to rinse my face afterwards :D What? You didn't know I'm a lazy bum? Still, I do give wash-off masks a chance every once in a while. There are good ones out there, I'm sure!

That said, I have 3 words for this SkinLite Hydrating Cucumber Masque - what a waste! Honestly, it was a waste of my money, time, and energy massaging it on and washing it off. It did absolutely nothing! And I'm not looking for improvement, I'm looking for mere change! There was no change whatsoever before and after. If my face was tight and dry before, it was still tight a dry after. What's the point of this mask again? There isn't one!

The Hydrating Cucumber Masque has a rather interesting texture. It's really very...pulpy. I suppose they are trying to give you the idea that you are wearing a mask of cucumber puree. At least it sure smells like cucumber, listing cucumber extract as an ingredient. It's just too bad I find it neither hydrating nor worth a try. Blah.

Next.

SkinLite Royal Jelly Essence Mask

My first post in August! Where has my summer gone? Noooo... :(

SkinLite is another Korean brand that offers very decent facial treatment masks, and in my opinion, their Royal Jelly Essence Mask is much better than the SkinFood Honey & Royal Jelly Mask Sheet.

The packet says it contains Vitamin E, Phyto Collagen, Royal Jelly extract, Licorice root, and Portulaca (Purslane) extract that will help hydrate and firm in 15-20 minutes. Instructions say to use on cleansed skin, apply and leave on for 15-20 minutes. Afterwards massage the rest into the skin and do not rinse off.

To start, the cut of the mask fits my face much better, not nearly as good as Sekkisei Lotion Mask Tablets, but still better than the SkinFood sheet. Also, the honey scent is still detectable, but nowhere nearly as strong as in the SkinFood one. And of course, it was not as sticky. I still patted some water on my face aftwerwards to lighten it up a bit, but if you leave it to dry, it's not sticky at all. I don't know about firming, but it was definitely hydrating even after I had patted some water on my face. I didn't have to use my usual moisturizer that night.

Let's just say my skin liked the SkinLite mask much better than it did the SkinFood mask. There was no stinging, and the treatment left my face soft and supple. The next morning, I woke up with bright and even-toned skin even though I didn't sleep much. Now I'm totally excited to try out the other treatment masks SkinLite has to offer, especially Aloe, Cucumber, and Green Tea ones. Best of all, these masks contains more essense than the SkinFood masks but are half the price! Yay!
