Dove Botanical Selection Makeup Removal Oil Pore Beauty Oil Cleansing

Last but not least, I'm finishing up this Dove Botanical Selection Makeup Removal Oil Pore Beauty Oil Cleansing 155mL refill pouch, which I poured into the emptied pump bottle of Sulwhasoo Gentle Cleansing Oil EX.

This is a pretty decent cleansing oil, actually. It's thick and smooth but isn't too oily. There's also a slight cushy texture, but I wouldn't call it a gel--definitely an oil. Otherwise, it rinses well and doesn't dry out my skin. It has a mild fruity-floral scent that's pleasant. I probably won't repurchase though: I have an ongoing queue for cleansing oils, balms, and gels ^.^

Dove Baby Eczema Care Soothing Cream

While we're using Mustela Stelatopia Emollient Balm on our littlest one, we're also using this 144g/5.1oz. tube of Dove Baby Eczema Care Soothing Cream on our 4.5-year old who has eczema-prone skin that gets dry and flaky with pretty much the vast majority of baby lotions and creams we've tried. In the hot summer, we'd found that Mustela Stelatopia Emollient Cream works, and for this cold and dry weather, this Dove cream is the best so far!

Dove Baby Lotion

Since the weather cooled starting in September, hubby and I have stopped using Johnson's CottonTouch Newborn Face & Body Lotion for our toddler because despite slathering that stuff all over his body every night after the bath, his arms, tummy, and legs developed dry spots anyway. That meant it was time for a more substantial body lotion, and I moved on to this 591mL/20fl. oz. pump bottle of Dove Baby Lotion, the Rich Moisture version.

Dove Botanical Selection Damage Protection Shampoo and Conditioner

Happy New Year!

Hubby and I finished the refill pack of Bene Premium Bluria Delicious SPA Shampoo a couple of weeks ago and promptly moved on to this 400mL bottle of Dove Botanical Selection Damage Protection Shampoo and Conditioner. I found these in a set via Amazon JP and they were willing to send them overseas to me at a pretty reasonable price. The package arrived well-packed and in great condition too! Hooray!

Dove Moisture Care Oil Cleansing

Half way through this 170mL pump bottle of Dove Moisture Care Oil Cleansing so here's a super short review for it.

I don't know why I was hoping for this oil cleanser to be similar to the Sensitive Milk Facial Cleansing Foam. I guess that was just how much I enjoyed using that foaming wash and should probably repurchase ^.^

I guess that makes me slightly unreasonable for being disappointed with this cleansing oil. The texture is like any other cleansing oil, and it's scented with a fragrance that doesn't really stand out. What I don't like is that it doesn't rinse well. Given that it's a cleansing oil, I don't expect it to rinse clean. But I didn't expect it to rinse like a cleansing cream either, leaving behind a film. It's not unbearable, but I'll be moving on after finishing the bottle.

Dove Sensitive Mild Facial Cleansing Foam

I picked up this 110g tube of Dove Sensitive Mild Facial Cleansing Foam because it's supposedly "mild." The back of the tube labels colorant and paraben-free, but honestly I didn't have any expectations. Japanese drugstore foaming cleansers tend to foam like mad, and it's this foaming that wrecks havoc with my dry combination skin, so I'm really going out on a limp here.

Dove Hand Care Wash

These Dove Hand Care Wash were on sale for 98yen each at my local drug store so I grab a bag to try.

I honestly didn't expect much given the runny and super drying properties of Japanese hand soaps (ahem Naive Peach Hand Soap!) in general. But this one pleasantly surprised me! Its consistency was thicker and it felt more like the liquid hand wash at home in the states. It smelled really nice, very similar to the Dove Beauty Moisture Body Wash, and best of all it didn't dry out my hands at all! I am definitely buying more of this, only I wish they have more variety of scents because this original one is all they have out there :(

Dove Beauty Moisture Body Wash

So the entire Dove brand is on sale at my local drugstore. Oh boy. I took a deep breath and backed away very slowly, but still made out with this small loot - a Dove Beauty Moisture Body Wash & Refill Set. Only 498yen's worth of damage, which is not any damage if you ask me ^.^

Normally, the Dove body wash in the pump bottle itself (550mL) is at least that price, and the refill (400mL) is at least another 3-400yen. So essentially I got the refill for free. Plus 4 samples, 1 each of Dove Deep Moisture Care Shampoo, Conditioner, Treatment, and Leave-in Treatment. And a kiddie toy. Nice!

Sample packet with 4 samples inside.

1 each of Dove Deep Moisture Care Shampoo & Conditioner

1 each of Dove Deep Moisture Care Treatment (tube) & Leave-in Treatment (round pump bottle)

And a pink elephant toy to put onto the pump cap. It squeaks every time you pump for soap LOL!

When I was in Japan last, I have used Dove body wash before, but it was an older Cool Cucumber scent similar to the Aqua Moisture Cucumber Green Tea in the lineup. In fact, that particular Dove Body Wash was my favorite as the scent was heavenly. The texture was runny and thin, and it foamed like crazy, you know, all the features commonly seen in many other Japanese made body washes such as those from the Naive brand. When I came home, I grabbed the first Dove Body Wash in the Cool Cucumber scent at my local Target, only to be sorely disappointed as it didn't smell or feel anything like its Japanese counterpart :(

The same promotion set was also available in the Renew Raspberry & Fresh Lime scent, but hubby refused to try it, so we agreed on the original Dove scent as I haven't tried it before either. Let me tell you, I was very, very tempted to grab both, and I just might go back for the Raspberry & Fresh Lime one if there are still any left :)

Ha. I was surprised again with this Dove Body Wash. I expected it to be thin and runny and it's not! It was actually thick like shampoo, so not quite as thick as those body washes in the states but still, this is much thicker than your average Japanese-made body wash! It foams a whole lot still, but it was moisturizing, true to what it claims to do. That said, it's really humid so I don't know how this would perform when it's actually drier, if it ever gets drier. Urgh.

The pump bottle contains 550mL of product (and toy).

And it smells really nice, by the way, nothing like the "original" Dove scent in the states but more like the original Caress bar LOL! Hubby really likes the fragrance too.

The refill contains only 400mL.

Toy in action *squeak*squeak* ^.^

Dove Beauty Moisture Creamy Face Wash

I wasn't really looking for a face wash since I brought a few with me from home (I know, silly me, right?), but of course I can only do so much in terms of self-restraint and bought this Dove Beauty Moisture Creamy Face Wash too :) It looked interesting :)

I am using this Dove cleanser in conjunction to the Etude House Happy Tea Time Cleansing Foam - Peach Tea (in process of reviewing). In the beginning, I designated it a morning cleanser (use only every 2 mornings, by the way, after my Differin retinoid treatment the night before) and the Etude House an evening one (as a follow up cleanser after the oil cleanser). My rationale was that Dove is supposed to be a moisturizing wash, so it won't be too stripping in combination with my alcohol-loaded Allie sunscreen. Plus my day moisturizer is much lighter than my evening moisturizer anyway (a heavier one tend to interfere with my sunscreen application), so a milder cleanser would be best.

Well, I was wrong. The Dove cleanser turns out not as mild as the Etude House one and I had to exchange their roles. The Dove cleanser is a runny liquid but is dispensed a foam, though thinner and not as "creamy" as it name suggests. It is scented with a fragrance very similar to that of Softymo Airy Whip, only with a hint of leafy aloe. It cleanses well and leaves my skin squeaky clean, which is to say that if I use too much, my skin will feel a bit tight afterwards.

It's not a bad cleanser, but I won't buy it again, especially when there are so many other choices...
