Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist

Update Wednesday, April 15, 2026.

No, it's not that it's been 13 years since I last used this product. More like after several more bottles, I got this super duper cute 15mL/0.5fl oz travel sized spray bottle and couldn't help but take photos of and post about it :)

Not sure if Jurlique has updated the formula, but it feels the same to me, which is not quite moisturizing enough for the dry climate where I am, but if it's humid where you live, you might appreciate this.

Original post Saturday, August 10, 2013.

I'm 2/3 of the way through the 50mL/1.7fl oz. this mister bottle of Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist. Like Boscia Balancing Facial Tonic, this is a multi-purpose mist to be used as toner right after cleansing or throughout the day as needed. After "demoting" the Boscia tonic to daytime freshener use, I started using this Jurlique one as a toner instead.

Even though both Boscia and Jurlique products are runny and watery, the Jurlique Balancing Mist feels substantially more moisturizing while still maintaining that super watery light, barely there feel. In fact, on some nights I spray this onto my neck and décolletage and it feels adequate just like that! That said, in contrast with the alcohol-free and unscented Boscia, this Jurlique mist is scented and contains alcohol! Note alcohol as the second ingredient on the list, although since this is coming from Australia I'm not sure if the listing order signifies concentration. As for the scent, it is a very strong rose fragrance. It's not perfumey or fake but more herbal, and either way it took a while for me to get used to. So it really depends on how much you like roses and rose fragrances.

By Terry Baume de Rose All-Over Oil Face Body Hair

More than half way through this 100mL/3.38fl. oz. spray bottle of By Terry Baume de Rose All-Over Oil Face Body Hair so here's a post for it. This is a multi-purpose oil for face, body, and hair, but I use it mainly as a body oil. Only once I'm done apply this all over my arms and legs, then I run my hands through my hair to use up whatever that's left.

La Roche-Posay Lipikar Balm

Almost done with this 400mL/13.52fl. oz. pump bottle of La Roche-Posay Lipikar Balm. This is a thicker version of the Lotion I used up a few years ago.

In fact, it's a little too thick and too rich. Not only it takes a long time to absorb, it leaves my arms and legs rather sticky. So what did I do but diluted it with MyKirei Soothing Peony Milky Lotion (will post next) because the latter was too thin and nowhere as moisturizing as I needed it to be ^.^

I used one part Balm and two parts Milky Lotion, and the result was perfect! Just thin enough to not be sticky, but moisturizing enough to keep my skin comfortable. Even better since that this Balm is unscented and the Milky Lotion was lightly scented, I got a very lightly scented body lotion. Win-win!

Kyobian Body Cream

Here's a super short post for these 35g jars of Kyobian Body Cream in Ocha, Sakura, and Yuzu. Kyobian is a sub-brand of Kyoto Kurochiku, so you can guess where this is going, right?

Maiko Cosme Hand & Body Cream

Maiko Cosme is another sub-brand of KyoMaiko, and I had zero expectation for this 70g jar of Hand & Body Cream Kinmokusei (kinmokuseiosmanthus, 桂花). Actually, worse than that. I was all ready to "demote" it the same way I did both the Maiko-san Sakura Cream and the Moisture Cream from the sister sub-brand Mamisango.

Why would I think this Maiko Cosme Hand & Body Cream would be any different? Over the decades, there have been facial skincare products that were so wonky, be it the formula or the texture or the scent, that I couldn't stand using them on my face. At the same time, they were fine and weren't expired or had gone bad or stale in any way, so I passed them on to family and friends. And when no one wanted to try them, and when throwing them out would be too wasteful (don't get me wrong: I have hated some things enough to have simply tossed them), that was when they got "demoted" to my hands, or worse, my feet.

So imagine my shock: just when I thought that this hand and body cream(!) would end up being used for my feet, it got promoted to exclusive use on my face! Totally did not see that coming, did you?

Mamisango Maiko-san Sakura Cream

Like Kyoto Kurochiku, KyoMaiko is one of those niche Kyoto-based brands that's geared towards touristy gift shops and sells sometimes gimmicky products like tiny little 5g jars of hand cream (guess who fell for it anyway? :P), small and flimsy reusable bags (guess who bought those too? =.=), meh supposedly facial creams (and bought these T.T), and smaller-than-credit-card packets of paper soaps for travel purposes (and totally obsessed with these, ha!). Yep, I'm guilty through and through. Hence this post for the 60g jar of Mamisango Maiko-san Sakura Cream, Mamisango being a sub-brand under KyoMaiko.

Philosophy Shampoo Bath & Shower Gel Part II

I was at Nordstrom Rack picking up a few odds and ends when I spotted a display of Philosophy bath & body products. Now, I've tried a 30mL travel size bottle of Shampoo Bath & Shower Gel almost ten years ago and didn't like it, but I was using that bottle during travel where lots of things could have contributed to a less than pleasant experience, so I decided to give it another try and picked up several items because of the yummy scents. In this post, I'll be reviewing more of the Shampoo Bath & Shower Gels.

Boscia Cica Soothing Universal Cream

Among the last order I placed with Boscia before they closed up their North American chapter was this big 100mL/3.4fl. oz. tube of Cica Soothing Universal Cream. By this point, Cica (Centella asiatica) has become a super trendy ingredient. I'd seen it everywhere and everybody and their sisters and brothers have some kind of Cica product to offer. But I figured I'd start with Boscia since I've used their products for decades now and trust the brand more so than some "hip" beauty brand I've never heard of. Little did I know that some months later, Boscia would fold T.T
