Majolica Majorca Shadow Customize Part IV

Holy smoke, how long has it been since I last bought a Majolica Majorca Shadow Customize? Let's see, I last posted swatches for them in 2012 but have had them for a few years by that point, most probably since 2008-9. Woah, a decade, folks!

It wasn't all me. The brand seldom releases new single eye shadow colors and when they did, I didn't like any of the colors. Last year though, they definitely got my attention with BE384 and BR583.

Majolica Majorca Cream de Cheek

These Majolica Majorca Cream de Cheek were impulse buys because it's been a while since I bought anything from Adam Beauty LOL!

These caught my eyes because they're in a packaging akin to nail polish, in a glass bottle with a metal ball you'll have to shake well, then apply with a little dab from the brush. There are 4 colors available but I didn't bother with OR313 Custard Cream which looks like a nude color and I didn't see a point in applying a nude blush :P So I ended up with PK312 Shell Pink Cream, RD310 Coral Cream, and RD411 Kuchigo Cream.

Majolica Majorca Shadow Customize Part III

Last of the Majolica Majorca Shadow Customizes! I'm still trying to decide what I should post next, so vote in the poll on the right there if you haven't! ^.^

Most pictures were taken indoor with flash, but I will note otherwise. These 2 were taken in natural light without flash.

Majolica Majorca Shadow Customize Part II

More Majolica Majorca Shadow Customizes ^.^ Another unique aspect about this particular line of eye shadow is that there are several greens that are so very vivid. You don't see this very often among Japanese eye shadows at all! Oh, and get ready for the metallics, because here they come!

Majolica Majorca Shadow Customize

Another untouched part of my stash that I will start swatching, the Majolica Majorca Shadow Customize. I've been collecting these for a few years now, since I was introduced to the brand via the MJ Spices and the Cheek Customizes. There have been many colors released and then discontinued, making way for new ones. Obviously, I missed a bunch of them, but I do like the colors I have, and I adore their packaging. Not exactly easy to store, but very cute, like little pull-out drawers ^.^ I have 25 of these, so I'm only posting swatches for 10 for now. Others to follow.

Majolica Majorca Cheek Customize Part III

Short review here.

I was so excited when I saw this Majolica Majorca Cheek Customize #88, a pale pink highlighter. Grabbed it immediately, of course.

I guess I'm a bit disappointed. It's just okay, not terrible, but definitely not fantastic or even great. Its highlighting effect is very subtle, even for day use, so at night, it's pretty much...invisible. The powder itself literally feels dry, not dusty or powdery, and I think it could be softer as it is not as satiny to the touch like the other Cheek Customizes. I do like the fact that by the end of the day, the drier highlighter doesn't get all melty with my oily t-zones, but precisely because it's a dry, it exasperates the dry skin on my cheek even though I avoid getting it on the ball of my cheeks and only sweep it across my under eye area.

Now that I think about it, this highlighter might have been made for summer use when it's crazily hot and humid, hence the drier formula. I'm going to stow it away until then!

Majolica Majorca Rouge Majex

Wow, been using these Majolica Majorca Rouge Majex glosses for a veeeeeery long time. Since last summer, actually. I have all 10 of them in my bag and pick out a color to wear depending on my mood. Fickle, yes. Now that I think about it, I don't have very many Japanese made lip glosses! I have this fear that they tend to be very sticky, a la Maquillage Glossy Gloss. The few Japanese glosses I own that aren't sticky aren't really glosses but more like hybrid gloss-balms, like Maquillage Lip Essence and Canmake Lip Essence.

But of course I know I'm being unreasonable and my fear's totally unfounded, because non-Japanese made glosses can be just as sticky (Stila Lip Glazes and It Glosses!!!). Thankfully, these Rouge Majex glosses proved me wrong - they are absolutely not sticky at all! Plus they are not overly perfumed, slightly scented with a fruity-gum fragrance. Most of the colors below are sheer, and the majority are shimmery, which I don't usually prefer but surprisingly didn't mind in this case. The only down side is that the colors fade after an hour or so and the gloss itself didn't really last, no where near the staying power of Lancome Juicy Tubes and Clinique Superbalm. Also, for some reason several of the pictures make the glosses look darker and a bit more red than they actually are, perhaps due to lighting.

- BE205: I know it looks pink-nude in the picture, but in natural light it's a nude-beige. The thing is, I applied it on the back of my hand, and surprisingly the gloss itself looked very close to the color you see in the picture! Weird, huh? On my lips though, they were sheer but blended in pretty well, giving me that my-lips-but-better color. It has shimmers, but they didn't really show on my lips.

- BE210: I've no idea why they would classify this color as a BE (beige), because it's definitely gold with pinkish undertone. It looks a bit reddish in the picture, but on the back of my hand it was just a warm gold. This is one of my favorites glosses actually even though it's one of the more shimmery ones. It was totally translucent on my lips without any frost, giving me just a pretty shimmery gold sheen. If you like to layer glosses over lipsticks, I'd definitely recommend this one.

- BE706: this one's is another strange case of the item looking darker in picture than in natural light, but the actual gloss itself on the back of my hand matched the color pictured. In the picture, it looks a rosy mauve, and in natural light it looks like a muted mauve. On the back of my hand though, it turned a rosy mauve and was a lot more pigmented than the previous BE205 and BE210. Again this one has shimmers but they don't really show on my lips.

- OR317: yep, this one too looks more vibrant in picture, a coral-toned orange, than its muted version in natural light, but on the back of my hand, the gloss itself matched the color in the picture. This is another one of my favorites. The gloss was shimmery, but not frosty, and it was pigmented enough to give me just the right amount of color. Too bad it didn't last as long as I wish it would, but I still love it!

- PK102: don't let the picture deceive you. I guess it really doesn't matter what color you see in picture or in natural light, because this gloss went on totally clear on the back of my hand and on my lips! It actually has very fine pink iridescent shimmers, but they don't show at all.

- PK211: the picture is actually more pink than both the color you see in natural light and the actual gloss itself on the back of my hand. In natural light and on the back of my hand, it was an icy pale pink, and on my lips, it was so sheer it was practically translucent (not quite clear, just translucent). It has shimmers, but they don't really do much.

- PK313: the color in this picture, a rosy pink with a touch of coral, is totally deceiving and the color in natural light is more of a muted peachy coral. This is one of the few cases where the actual gloss on the back of my hand actually did not match the color pictured - it's a muted peachy coral with silver shimmers. It's probably my least favorite out of the bunch because it turned frosty on my lips. Other than that, this color and BE706 are the 2 most pigmented ones.

- PK338: this color looks warmer in the picture and in natural light than the actual gloss on the back of my hand. In the picture as well as in natural light, it looks like a coral-pink (why does everything look coral to me?), and the actual gloss on the back of my hand was a cooler lotus pink. Another one of my favorites and similarly pigmented as the OR317, just enough to give me some color, but too much. It has shimmers, but it was not frosty at all.

- PK404: erhh...I would call this color a scam. It looks hot pink in picture and in natural light, but it the actual gloss had no bite at all! It was a wussy translucent muted pink, and it "enhanced" the color of my lips a little while it lasted and that was it. It has no shimmers, by the way, so I should like it more than I do, but I don't. I'd say this color is worse than the clear PK102 above because at least the PK102 didn't pretend to have colors.

- RD419: the picture is deceiving again, and the color in natural light as well as the gloss itself on the back of my hand is not as vibrant. Don't get me wrong, it's a decently pigmented cool strawberry pink, but it was definitely not red. It has no shimmers, and it gave my lips a really nice pop of color, but I really wish it didn't fade so quickly and the gloss would last longer. Oh well...

Majolica Majorca Cheek Customize Part II

I got this Majolica Majorca Cheek Customize in PK333 for my mum (she's fair and actually needs bubblegum pink blushes!!!) and she raved about it, so I got curious and got one for myself too :)

PK333 is, well, a bubblegum pink with shimmers so fine they don't show up at all, so it goes on pretty much matte. Also, unlike the other 2 orangey colors in the same line, this pink one is much less pigmented and has much weaker staying power. Fine by me though, because I've noticed as the blush fades throughout the day, it actually gives me a more natural blush than when it's freshly applied. It is bubblegum pink, after all:P

Majolica Majorca Cheek Customize

Majolica Majorca has interesting product packaging, as you can see, these Cheek Customize blushes come in clear cases where you can pull on the rounded handle like a drawer. Neat concept! The powder is smooth and fine and is a great deal considering their small price and overall quality. I have 3 shades:

- OR322: an intense orange with coral undertones, and it actually turns coral on my cheeks. Very pigmented!

Majolica Majorca MJ Spice

The idea of loose powder makeup in a bottle sounds fun, so I got myself a few of these MJ Spice to satisfy my curiosity. Plus they were limited edition items, so it was worth collecting. Even better, these loose powders are multi-purpose: they can used as blushers, highlighters, and eye shadows. Also, you can dab the colored ones on top of clear gloss for a pretty sheen or the lighter ones on top of colored gloss for a shimmery effect. Mix away!!!

These "spices" come in 6 colors, from left to right:

- Sensual Spice (RD)
- Dolly Spice (PK)
- Active Spice (OR)

- Glamorous Spice (GD)
- Pure Spice (WT)
- Cool Spice (VI)

Shiseido Brands

Some well known Shiseido brands are: The Makeup, The Skincare, SunCare, Benefiance, Pureness, Maquillage, Majolica Majorca, PN, Cle de Peau, Integrate, Tsubaki, and Super Mild. There are a bunch of others too I did not list, solely because I either haven't heard of them, know nothing of them, or just not interested :)

See a complete listing of all Shiseido brands (in Japanese).

CURRENTLY USING (in conjunction with others)
Maquillage
Highlighters, blushes, and eye shadows from this mid-end brand have unbelievably fine and silky texture. Many people like its lip products as well. The packaging is totally out of wack though. After T'estimo, this is the second brand I got into. Will post individual reviews later.

PN (Pied Nus)
Highlighters and blushes from this mid-end brand are excellent. Sadly, it has been discontinued in 2005, phased out slowly to be completely replaced by Maquillage above. Will post reviews later.

Majolica Majorca
Blushes and eye shadows from this brand are super affordable ($4-6) and the quality is absolutely amazing! If you want a good introduction to Japanese makeup without breaking your piggie bank, this is the brand to try. Will post reviews later.

Super Mild Hair Products
The first time I used Super Mild shampoo, I hated its Floral scent (the white/pink bottles). Still, after just one use I was convinced enough to venture out to the drugstore to find its Fruit scent (the white/green bottles)! Both hubby and I are devoted followers now, and we panic every time our bottle runs low. It lathers well, and keeps both our hair smooth, soft, and best of all, weightless! I have super straight hair that used to be a complete greasy mess the next day, but not with Super Mild! And I love that Fruit scent, it's so subtle and yet lingering, not perfumy at all!
