I've heard of the Shiseido brand Benefique for years before hubby and I moved back to Tokyo in 2016. When we were in Tokyo though, to my surprise I couldn't find any Benefique products, with the exception of the one time when we were on a day trip with friends and accidentally wandered into a store displayed many cosmetic and skincare brands I haven't seen or heard of before, Benefique among them.
It wasn't until months after we'd moved back to the USA that I finally made the connection: Benefique is actually a boutique brand, as in only available through specialty shops, which totally explained why I couldn't find any Benefique products when I was checking out different drugstores in Tokyo!
So imagine my surprise when I was casually browsing Nordstrom Rack
online and came upon a slew of Benefique products. Like, whaaa?! I
added them all to my basket of course ^.^
I already reviewed the Hot Cleansing back in April,
and I'm still working through the three bottles of Lotion (I Cool
Fresh, II Moist Soft, III Moist Rich), but I'm almost done with the
second bottle of Emulsion, so here's a post for both the
Emulsion I
Fresh Smooth and
Emulsion II Moist Soft.
The product volume is pretty generous--the Lotions each contains 200mL/6.7fl. oz. and these Emulsions each contains 150mL/5fl. oz.! All of the them have the same scent, a fresh but feminine fragrance. The packaging are more practical than fancy, which I appreciate. That's not to say the bottles are ugly; as you can see, they're not. They feel sturdy, and each pump dispenses just the right amount. Over all, I'm glad I got the chance to try these, although I won't repurchase solely because, well, they're not exactly easy to get a hold of.
- Emulsion I
Fresh Smooth: a light emulsion that was pretty moisturizing though, enough for use at night. I used this bottle during the summer and really enjoyed it.
-
Emulsion II Moist Soft: definitely thicker,
richer, and even more moisturizing but not at all heavy. I only need 1 pump for my whole face and neck. I'm finishing up this bottle right now and will move one once I'm done with it.
