Cle de Peau Beaute Radiant Lip Gloss

Back in summer 2021, Caty sent me a super generous care package with a few Cle de Peau Beaute items: two Lip Glorifiers and a Radiant Lip Gloss in 103 Legend (pictured below, thank you, Caty!). I ended up loving this color so much I bought the Lip Luminizer and Lipstick Cashmere versions of it too! That said, because this post is 3-4 years late, all of these products have since been discontinued, reformulated, renamed, repackaged, or some combination of the latter three. The color lineup seems to have changed as well, and this same red is now called 103 Legend of Rouge.

All pictures taken in natural light without flash.

To be honest, while I enjoy many CdP skincare and makeup products, I feel their packaging in general is hit-n-miss. Their limited edition releases are gorgeous, especially the holiday collections. But otherwise most packaging for the permanent lineup, with the exception of the Lip Glorifiers in sleek metal tubes, are pretty meh to me. Which is too bad, because I think some of their products are great, and they really do deserve to be in better looking packaging.

Take this Lip Gloss for example, the tube is square and bulky, and generic looking to boot. The fuzzy applicator is funky twisty and I'm not sure it does any better a job.

However, the gloss formula is fantastic! The texture is just right, not too thick and goopy, but thick enough to be moisturizing and long lasting. There are lip products out there that feel comfortable going on, but afterwards they don't really moisturize and just sit on top of the lips (ahem--YSL!). This lip gloss is different. The wax in its ingredients makes it nice and balmy while the oils soothe and relieve my dry lips immediately upon application. The only down side I can see is that the color loses its vibrancy after an hour or so, even if it doesn't fade completely. I don't buy lip glosses for the color to begin with, so this doesn't bother me too much, but others might find this disappointing, especially for a lip gloss that costs $38 a pop.

- 103 Legend: a shimmer-free neutral red. I know the swatch photo below makes it look rather cool and blue-based, but I assure you it's neutral.
