These Paul & Joe Liquid Rouge were released in the spring of 2021 with 2 types: a Shine Type in 8 colors that are pigmented with a glossy finish, and a Tint Type in 3 colors that are sheer and also with a glossy finish. I was starting to use more lip glosses around this time and picked the latter Tint Type in 01 Cocktail Cherry, 02 Tutu Ballerina, and 03 L’Heure du The.

These aren't "Liquid Rouge." Not even close. They're staining lip glosses in functional tubes with a fuzzy applicator tip. They have the same scent as the lipsticks, and they have a nice minty and tingling sensation. They have no color whatsoever, but they do leave a nice stain, nothing vibrant like Givenchy Le Rouge Perfecto (now discontinued) but the stain is tenacious enough to last through a shower, wherein I pressed my lips together and washed my face with a cleansing oil, a follow-up foaming face wash, and had shampoo lather flowing down my face.
I'll admit the formula is amazing. The texture is thick and gel-like and it
hugs and cushions my lips and makes them look plump and juicy. The
glosses aren't at all sticky or gooey, are super moisturizing, and leave
a glassy finish. I would say the fantastic formula makes up for the
lack of color, and thanks to these, I'm now super curious with the Shine
Type. Would they have the same formula, only with more pigment? Hmm.
- 01 Cocktail Cherry: swatches a juicy cherry but goes on my lips with barely a pink tint. Leaves a nice carnation pink stain.
- 02 Tutu Ballerina: is pretty much clear. Ha. Leaves a pink stain.
- 03 L’Heure du The: swatches a plum but again goes on my lips with barely any tint. Leaves a light coral stain.
